The European Youth Press (EYP) is now accepting applications for Full Member Organisations. If your organisation is committed to empowering young media makers, promoting media education, and advocating for press freedom across Europe, this is a valuable opportunity to deepen your involvement in a dynamic network of youth-led media organisations.
Criteria for Full Member Organisations
To qualify as a Full Member Organisation, your organisation must meet the following criteria:
- National Associations of Young Media Makers: The organisation must be a national association based in Europe, with objectives that include providing media education to young people, supporting young media makers, and working toward better press freedom in alignment with human rights. The organization must be officially registered for at least one year and operate in a non-partisan manner.
- Transnational or European Media Organisations: Transnational or European media organisations with the same objectives—media education for young people, supporting young journalists, and promoting press freedom—are also eligible. They must have been officially registered for at least one year and act in a non-partisan manner.
- Observer Member Status: Your organization must have held Observer Member Organisation status with EYP for at least one year before applying for full membership.
Key Considerations
- Voting Requirements: To be admitted as a Full Member Organisation, your application must receive the support of at least two-thirds (2/3) of the full Member Organisations present at the General Assembly.
- Representative Requirements: One representative from your applying Observer Member Organisation will be invited to attend the General Assembly in person. The representative should not exceed 30 years and 8 months of age at the time of the General Assembly unless no one within your organisation meets this criterion.
- Observer Rights: While Observer Member Organisation representatives have the right to speak and propose motions during the General Assembly, they do not have voting rights. However, upon successful election to full membership, your organisation will gain voting rights for the remainder of the General Assembly and future events.
- Application Review: EYP's Advisory Board will review all applications and make a non-binding suggestion on whether to approve or disapprove your application. The final decision will be made by the General Assembly participants, who will vote on your application.
- Free of Charge: There are no fees associated with applying for Full Membership.
Why Apply for Full Membership?
As a Full Member Organisation, your organization will gain significant benefits, including:
- Voting Rights: The ability to vote at EYP’s General Assembly, giving your organisation a voice in shaping the future of European youth media.
- Increased Influence: Play a key role in EYP's decision-making processes and advocate for the interests of young media makers across Europe.
