Call for Executive Board Members and a Treasurer of European Youth Press

European Youth Press (EYP), an umbrella organization of young media makers, is seeking new Board Members and a Treasurer to join the Executive Board for a two-year mandate (2023-2025). The board membership is voluntary and home-based. The elections will take place at European Youth Press’ annual General Assembly, to be held on 19 & 20 November 2022 in Antwerp, Belgium.

 

Each Board Member takes on several key responsibilities of the organization, in consultation with her/his/their fellow Board Members and the Member Organizations of EYP. The board members are responsible for taking and implementing all major decisions within the organization, supervising tasks and stepping in as project coordinators of some of the main projects of EYP.

 

The ideal candidate has the following mandatory qualifications and skills:

  • Being familiar with the structure and functions of European Youth Press;
  • Having a background in media and journalism-related content production and/or training;
  • Having a good or excellent command of English as a working language;
  • The ability and willingness to regularly travel to different European countries for Board Meetings, conferences and trainings (nearly always on weekends);
  • The ability and willingness to voluntarily dedicate at least 10 working hours per week to EYP, excluding Board Meetings;
  • A keen interest in working in a very international environment with people from different backgrounds.

 

The ideal candidate has the following desired qualifications and skills:

  • Having prior working experience as a member of EYP-related projects and/or partnerships;
  • Having prior working experience at one of EYP’s Member Organisations;
  • Having prior working experience in multicultural and multilingual teams.

 

According to the organization’s statutes, the board members must be under the age of 30 years.

 

Important things to note:

  • Potential candidates with prior working experience in project management and implementation, external communication, and financial management/bookkeeping are highly encouraged to apply;
  • When you apply and do not represent one of our Member Organizations during the General Assembly 2022, you will be invited to attend the GA with all your EYP-related travel, accommodation and meal costs, within reason, reimbursed or covered by EYP;
  • If elected to the Executive Board, all your EYP-related travel, accommodation and meal costs will, within reason, be reimbursed or covered by EYP;
  • If elected to the Executive Board, we ask you to keep the weekend of 17 and 18 December 2022 available as this will be your first Executive Board Meeting; exact location TBA.

  • Send an email to Executive Board Member Jonathan Hendrickx (j.hendrickx@youthpress.org) by Wednesday, 16 November 2022, 23:59 CET. The email should have Executive Board Candidate as the subject line and contain a recent CV, a one-page cover letter outlining your vision for and tasks within (the Executive Board of) EYP, and a one-page SWOT-analysis of European Youth Press. Additionally, an endorsement letter from one of our Member Organizations is highly recommended.
  • Interviews will be held during the General Assembly, in person or online. During the GA, the Member Organizations vote for the best candidates. The results will be announced no later than Sunday, 20 November 2022.

In addition, the European Youth Press is seeking a board member to take up the position of treasurer. Indicate your interest in the position in your motivational letter.
