Summer school for young journalists in Moldova

About 80 young people, from 15 schoool newspapers took part at a summer school, july 7th-11th, at Holercani. The participants were selected according to a contest, where 25 school sewspapers applied.

Recently created, a team of trainers moderated a summer school for young journalists from school newspapers in Moldova.

The trainers had participated in june and july, this year, in a training about how to be moderators. They had recieved knowledge and abilities to be able to conduct these classes. Out of 15 participants, there was selected a team of 9 trainers, that have proved their abilities and succes in mass media. Some of them are already employed in national newspapers and radio stations.

The aim of this summer school was to strenghten teams of young journalists, and to develop their activities of editing school newspapers, that would stimulate participation in communituty, and to offer new ways of developing for young people in Transnistria and Găgăuzia. Young people in these regions are less active in different mass media activities.

During this summer school, the young journalists had the following workshops: News and resources, Language of media, Design, Reporting, Structure of the tram and organization of work, Interview, functions of the school media, continuity of a school newspaper.

This activity is part of the project "Promoting young journalists from Moldova including Gagauzia and Transnistria in Multiculturalism" started in may, this year, by the Youth Media Centre, with the support of IFA and the Stability Act in SouthEastern Europe, with the financial support of the German Foreign Office.
