Women’s Voices Now (WVN), a New York-based not-for-profit social enterprise is calling for film submissions for 'Women’s Voices from the Muslim World: A Short-Film Festival'. The festival, open to filmmakers of all genders, nationalities and faiths, aims to give voice to women of all faiths living in Muslim-majority countries and Muslim women living as minorities around the globe.

Deadline: 1 November, 2010

Filmmakers may submit into one of the following four categories: Documentary Shorts or Fiction Shorts (both under 21 minutes), Experimental Shorts (90-300 seconds) and Student Shorts (under 10 minutes and 30 seconds). Top films, coupled with panels of speakers providing further insight and context, will be screened during an event at the Los Angeles Film School in February 2011 and subsequently in communities around the world.

The Festival will accept submissions from both amateur and professional filmmakers. Filmmakers may apply and upload their films via the WVN website. Submissions are currently open and will remain open until 1 November, 2010 without charge.

The prize winners will be announced at the February 2011 event in Los Angeles. Cash prizes totaling $31,000 will be awarded to the top three films in each category. Eight Honorable Mentions will receive an additional $4,000.
