Malta Youth Press is the first ever Maltese youth press organistion for journalists, media makers and communication students under 30 years of age.


The objective of the Malta Youth Press Club, a youth organization within the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM), is:

  • to provide an effective and efficient means for young journalists, grouped within it, to work jointly for the development of journalism and to strengthen friendly relations and collaboration among journalists, the media industry and with the Institute of Maltese Journalists (IGM)
  • to create a network platform for young journalists and media students at a national and international level
  • to be active in European and international youth press platforms; and to be active in national youth foras
  • to provide the facilities, and professional and personal services necessary, including annual or periodic seminars/meetings, and national and international internship opportunities, for young journalists to be able to make use of every opportunity which can improve their skills, abilities and qualifications, and which can help in the sharing of mutual experiences
  • to promote, at all times, the highest moral values in responsibility which the profession of journalism necessitates, always conscious of the fact that information and communication play a most significant part in the personal development of each individual citizen and in the evolution of society and democracy
  • to work for the advancement of the journalistic profession, and in favour of the recognition and respect it deserves, primarily as a public service and to protect the fundamental right to freedom of information and freedom of expression.

Members of Malta Youth Press participate in local and foreign exchanges focusing on media and journalism.
