
Youth Media Network Association
Youth Media Network Association is a leading national non-governmental organization in Bulgaria. We unite school and university clubs of young journalists as well as youth media. Our members are young people between 18 and 35, who work, study or express an interest in journalism, public relations, producing, advertising and visual arts (cinema and TV). YMNA realizes topical projects trough the methods of showbiz and visual arts as well as information campaigns, art performances and fashionable untypical events for the youths. Our motto is "Do your best".
We have nine successful realized projects supported by Youth in Action Programme, Youth Activities Programme 2008-2010, Central Cooperative Union and several leading private Bulgarian companies.
Our first Democratic Citizenship project - the youth media conference "Challenges of European Citizenship" was included as an example of positive practice in the publication "European good practices" of Youth in Action Programme '09.
YMNA produces the youth movie "An ordinary day of an extraordinary teenager - HIGH" , supported by Youth Activities Programme 2008-2010 of Bulgarian Ministry of Education, Youth and Science and the TV show "Night LIVE".
In 2008 YMNA was a co-organizer and official media partner of European Youth?Week in Bulgaria. YMNA organized on 2nd November 2008 a debate "Raising the Media awareness towards youth issues". But the greatest event of YMNA until now is the youth media conference "MY VOTE 4 MY EUROPE" from 9th until 13th May 2009 in Sofia under the patronage of Commissioner Meglena Kuneva.
In 2010 YOUTH MEDIA NETWORK ASSOCIATION organized the project „Youth Week of Electronic media – the unemployment among the young media makers’’ with the participation of 60 students interested in media and journalism, supported by Youth Initiatives 2008-2010 Programme, administrated by NCEYPI, Association of Bulgarian Broadcasters, Microsoft Bulgaria and Media Development Centre. In the frames of the project YMNA organized a round table „Optimization of media education and employment access“ with the participation of national media and journalistic organizations, TV channels , radio stations, universities and the president and members of the Committee of Culture, Citizenship and Media in the Bulgarian Parliament.
In 2010 YMNA also organized the biggest project as number of participants and budget, supported by YiA Programme in Bulgaria – „Assembly of youth media organizations in Europe“ that took place in Varna in July 3-9, 2010. In the assembly took part 70 young journalists from Portugal, France, Italy, Hungary, Macedonia, Turkey, Sweden, Austria, Belgium, Holland, Germany, Moldova, Belarus, Poland, Romania and Bulgaria. The topic was “The role of media in the fight with youth unemployment”.
In 2010 YMNA realized the project „Youth and municipality - changing places’’, supported by „Europe” Programme of Capital Municipality (Sofia). Info campaign, workshops in good European practices, action „Municipality administrator for 1 week“ are some of the activities, parts of this project that was evaluated from the Programme on the first place as quality and realization.
YMNA is a partner of Bulgarian National Television, Cafe Babel Sofia Association and the Association of Bulgarian Broadcasters - ABRO.
YMNA is a member of Youth Consultative Body (National Youth Counsel)
