The media landscape in present-day Hungary is rather colourful. Besides the public television and radio channels and newspapers under strong state control a whole range of new commercial channels and privately owned newspapers have been created after the regime change in 1989. From the second half of the 1990s they can be treated as the leaders on the Hungarian media market. The internet also gains a more and more important role in the flow of information.
