FEJS Latvija is a non-profit independent organization dedicated to the exchange of information among journalism students, professionals and citizens interested in journalism. It was created as a national organization of Forum for European Journalism Students (FEJS) in August 2008.

FEJS Latvija has been active in many ways increasing awareness about tendencies and problems in Latvian media and encouraging journalism students and media makers to take active part in civil society and promote independent and ethical journalism.

FEJS Latvija organizes article competitions for young journalists and publication of the articles, discussions with Latvian and foreign journalists and other media events. It gives a possibility for any member to realize journalism-relevant ideas and events on national and European level.

FEJS Latvija creates contacts between University and professional environment. It also promotes and informs about local and international journalism seminars, conferences and competitions. FEJS Latvija is represented in FEJS Annual Congress and General Assembly every year.

FEJS Latvija aims at:

  • increasing awareness about current issues and media development tendencies
  • making a contact with professional journalism enviroment and improve practical skills of journalism students in Latvia
  • providing European and international context for young journalists

Improving professional skills and offering possibilities for young journalists to compare different media sistems in Europe and beyond it is a very important task to improve media quality in Latvia, which is FEJS Latvija longterm objective.
