Although Austria is a quite small country, the offer of media of any kind is surprisingly complex and manifold. Especially in terms of print press. There are 6 national distributed daily newspapers and many small magazines and papers. As far as TV and radio broadcast is concerned, Austria was dominated by the public service broadcast organisation ORF. But since a change of laws in 1998 the media situation became far more diverse. New privately financed radio and TV stations have appeared and started to build up a serious concurrence to the stately financed ORF.
